PepsiCo appoints K-pop superstars Blackpink to be their APAC brand ambassador
Following Beyonce and Lionel Messi, K-Pop superstars Blackpink became the latest endorsement for the beverage giant Pepsi. The Seoul based quartet was recently named Pepsi's brand ambassador for APAC.
Pepsi has a long tradition of always siding with artists, sports stars, and celebrities who have a massive following among the young generation. The latest partnership from Blackpink is geared to target the Gen Z demographic, who are considered to be more digitally savvy and mobile-first compared to previous generations.
Salman Butt, senior marketing director of PepsiCo APAC, affirms that the brand's association with the Seoul-based band will help them gain more acceptance among the younger population who are more fearless and risk-taking. Blackpink's story of resilience and grit can be seen as the classic example of teenagers risking it all to pursue their dream.
"perpetuates a uniquely youthful attitude and zest for life that perfectly embodies the Pepsi brand," says Butt.
The beverage conglomerate will be showcasing co-branded products in select Asian cities, starting with Singapore and Malaysia. You can expect a lot more to come out of this partnership in the days to come.
Blackpink's latest album released in 2020 features Ice Cream with Selena Gomez, the band has broken a handful of Guinness World Records. This is just another accolade to propel this band to greater heights as the teenagers await another sensation like How You Like That.
